The "C" Word

Dear Friends,

Most recently, I have been looking into the writings of Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels...The Communist Manifesto, first published in 1848. When I advise individuals of this activity, they look at me in horror. Why? Because they have been so brainwashed from the leftovers of the "red scare" and the Cold War, it appears traitorous to even consider studying such material. I was in the local Barnes & Noble bookstore, and they had these little nicely bound volumes of classic novels and other writings. A digest of Marx and Engels was among them. I picked it up and could not put it down. Why, again? I saw clearly ALL the upside-down issues we are dealing with on a day-to-day basis.
(A friend described communism as socialism with a gun. This friend also pointed out that what we are seeing is a form of Fabian Socialism...a mild mannered approach to similar ends.)

As far as I have delved into these writings, I see Marx as a brilliant dissector of our capitalist economic system. It is somewhat depressing to read through all the warts that capitalists try to manage from day-to-day. However, what he offered in its place is a system that resulted in governments killing 100+ million of their own people in the last century.

So why, you ask, is this of any consequence after we have seen the changes in the old Soviet Union and China? The march of Communism is alive and well and more ubiquitous than many of you realize and are willing to admit. It is fueled by ongoing class warfare of the have's and the have-nots fired up by special interest groups such as labor unions and corporate elite with little accountability built into their remuneration contracts. The smothering regulation of the nanny state WE have created frustrates people to take an irrational outlet for their anger, etc., etc.

These are the most visible manifestations that help to blind us to this reality and weaken our resolve to take action, individually or as a group.

EVEN MORE INSIDIOUS are specific strategies that have been diffused or distributed to PAC's, NGO's, or other blatantly subversive groups. I have extracted certain passages from the Communist Manifesto and tried to relate to current events or groups that support those actions. Primarily, these activities reside on the left. When taken individually, they are really in some sort of stealth social engineering mode. When taken as a whole and seriously thought about, you suddenly have in-your-face Communism as put forth by the Soviet Union, China, etc. Someone or some group has cleverly redone the strategy into its present form. Clearly, some of this resides in the "ruling elite"...the group that thinks they know what's better for us than we ourselves. I am sad to say that our government has a good-sized infection from these human parasites. I should add that this is not isolated just to the U.S. It IS a worldwide phenomena through social incrementalism.

Here we go, with my comments inserted...

"In one word, you reproach us with intending to do away with your property. Precisely so; that is just what we intend. From the moment when labour can no longer be converted into capital, money, or rent, into a social power capable of being monopolised, i.e., from the moment when individual property can no longer be transformed into bourgeois property, into capital, from that moment, you say, individuality vanishes. You must, therefore, confess that by “individual” you mean no other person than the bourgeois, than the middle-class owner of property. This person must, indeed, be swept out of the way, and made impossible."

GEA Eminent domain issues recently before the Supreme Court. The left gave it a pass in a highly corrupted form allowing monied interests to roll over private property owners.

Communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society; all that it does is to deprive him of the power to subjugate the labour of others by means of such appropriations. It has been objected that upon the abolition of private property, all work will cease, and universal laziness will overtake us.
According to this, bourgeois society ought long ago to have gone to the dogs through sheer idleness; for those of its members who work, acquire nothing, and those who acquire anything do not work. The whole of this objection is but another expression of the tautology: that there can no longer be any wage-labour when there is no longer any capital.

All objections urged against the Communistic mode of producing and appropriating material products, have, in the same way, been urged against the Communistic mode of producing and appropriating intellectual products. Just as, to the bourgeois, the disappearance of class property is the disappearance of production itself, so the disappearance of class culture is to him identical with the disappearance of all culture.

GEA Driven in this direction by suffocating regulation and government's increasing involvement in business in an effort to take ALL personal initiative and self-determination and turn it over to the nanny-state. Culture is attacked through multiculturalism and open borders and undermining of the lingua franca.

That culture, the loss of which he laments, is, for the enormous majority, a mere training to act as a machine. But don’t wrangle with us so long as you apply, to our intended abolition of bourgeois property, the standard of your bourgeois notions of freedom, culture, law, &c. Your very ideas are but the outgrowth of the conditions of your bourgeois production and bourgeois property, just as your jurisprudence is but the will of your class made into a law for all, a will whose essential character and direction are determined by the economical conditions of existence of your class.

GEA Legislation from the bench based on a "Living Constitution" mentality...

The selfish misconception that induces you to transform into eternal laws of nature and of reason, the social forms springing from your present mode of production and form of property – historical relations that rise and disappear in the progress of production – this misconception you share with every ruling class that has preceded you. What you see clearly in the case of ancient property, what you admit in the case of feudal property, you are of course forbidden to admit in the case of your own bourgeois form of property.

"Abolition [Aufhebung] of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists."

GEA You are bloody blind if I have to list out the various aspects of this, however, for those still asleep, here are a few...

1. Redefinition of the word "marriage".
2. Redefining of family composition...two mommies, two daddies, etc.
3. Radical gay and lesbian predatory practices on our children via their own "manifesto" issued in the late '80's."
4. Removal of control of what our children are exposed to by the ACLU using first amendment rights.
5. Out of wedlock births
6. Eroding commitment to marriage...prior to and during.

On what foundation is the present family, the bourgeois family, based? On capital, on private gain. In its completely developed form, this family exists only among the bourgeoisie. But this state of things finds its complement in the practical absence of the family among the proletarians, and in public prostitution.
The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course when its complement vanishes, and both will vanish with the vanishing of capital. Do you charge us with wanting to stop the exploitation of children by their parents? To this crime we plead guilty. But, you say, we destroy the most hallowed of relations, when we replace home education by social.

GEA The NEA and other educators believe their job is socialization and NOT education, as we commonly think. Certainly, socialization is important to a certain extent, but it presently is the only objective leaving readin', ritin', and rithmatic in the dust.

And your education! Is not that also social, and determined by the social conditions under which you educate, by the intervention direct or indirect, of society, by means of schools, &c.?

The Communists have not invented the intervention of society in education; they do but seek to alter the character of that intervention, and to rescue education from the influence of the ruling class.

GEA Brainwashing of our children rather than teaching them how to study and think for themselves AND giving them the fundamentals necessary to survive in our "bourgeois" system. Hmmm.

The bourgeois clap-trap about the family and education, about the hallowed co-relation of parents and child, becomes all the more disgusting, the more, by the action of Modern Industry, all the family ties among the proletarians are torn asunder, and their children transformed into simple articles of commerce and instruments of labour.

GEA Pretty cold, eh?

But you Communists would introduce community of women, screams the bourgeoisie in chorus. The bourgeois sees his wife a mere instrument of production. He hears that the instruments of production are to be exploited in common, and, naturally, can come to no other conclusion that the lot of being common to all will likewise fall to the women. He has not even a suspicion that the real point aimed at is to do away with the status of women as mere instruments of production. For the rest, nothing is more ridiculous than the virtuous indignation of our bourgeois at the community of women which, they pretend, is to be openly and officially established by the Communists. The Communists have no need to introduce community of women; it has existed almost from time immemorial.

Our bourgeois, not content with having wives and daughters of their proletarians at their disposal, not to speak of common prostitutes, take the greatest pleasure in seducing each other’s wives.

GEA The rise of radical feminism and hatred of men.

Bourgeois marriage is, in reality, a system of wives in common and thus, at the most, what the Communists might possibly be reproached with is that they desire to introduce, in substitution for a hypocritically concealed, an openly legalised community of women. For the rest, it is self-evident that the abolition of the present system of production must bring with it the abolition of the community of women springing from that system, i.e., of prostitution both public
and private.

GEA Again, marriage under attach by dogmatic zealots.

The Communists are further reproached with desiring to abolish countries and nationality. The working men have no country. We cannot take from them what they have not got. Since the proletariat must first of all acquire political supremacy, must rise to be the leading class of the nation, must constitute itself the nation, it is so far, itself national, though not in the bourgeois sense of the word.

GEA Multiculturalism run amok. Open borders and no attempt to stem the flow of illegal aliens.

National differences and antagonism between peoples are daily more and more vanishing, owing to the development of the bourgeoisie, to freedom of commerce, to the world market, to uniformity in the mode of production and in the conditions of life corresponding thereto. The supremacy of the proletariat will cause them to vanish still faster.

GEA Odd statement. Will we have more soulless multinational corporations or one big communist glob with a few god-men pulling the strings?

United action, of the leading civilised countries at least, is one of the first conditions for the emancipation of the proletariat.

GEA Didn't Hillary say, "Power to the people!" in one of her more animated rallies? I may be mistaken."

In proportion as the exploitation of one individual by another will also be put an end to, the exploitation of one nation by another will also be put an end to. In proportion as the antagonism between classes within the nation vanishes, the hostility of one nation to another will come to an end.

GEA There you Commies go again, trying to change man...err woman's fallen nature.

The charges against Communism made from a religious, a philosophical and, generally, from an ideological standpoint, are not deserving of serious examination.

GEA Destroy religion in the public square using militant Islam and the running dogs of the ACLU. Hmmm... this could backfire.

Does it require deep intuition to comprehend that man’s ideas, views, and conception, in one word, man’s consciousness, changes with every change in the conditions of his material existence, in his social relations and in his social life? What else does the history of ideas prove, than that intellectual production changes its character in proportion as material production is changed? The ruling ideas of each age have ever been the ideas of its ruling class. When people speak of the ideas that revolutionise society, they do but express that fact that within the old society the elements of a new one have been created, and that the dissolution of the old ideas keeps even pace with the dissolution of the old conditions of existence.

GEA Strong introduction of situational ethics, moral relativism, and the secular humanist trend or religion.

When the ancient world was in its last throes, the ancient religions were overcome by Christianity. When Christian ideas succumbed in the 18th century to rationalist ideas, feudal society fought its death battle with the then revolutionary bourgeoisie. The ideas of religious liberty and freedom of conscience merely gave expression to the sway of free competition within the domain of knowledge.

“Undoubtedly,” it will be said, “religious, moral, philosophical, and juridical ideas have been modified in the course of historical development. But religion, morality, philosophy, political science, and law, constantly survived this change.”

“There are, besides, eternal truths, such as Freedom, Justice, etc., that are common to all states of society. But Communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience.”

GEA This is the key idea that justified the slaughter of 100+ million individuals in the last century. Goodness people, how many of you have confronted the popular thinking associated with situational ethics. Did you ever think that such an idiot scheme was actually part of the Communist Manifesto and those that have been espousing it have been brainwashed by this new religious dogma? This is one of the prime reasons that Michael Savage, an independent conservative says, "Liberalism is a mental disorder." Trying to logically discuss this matter is impossible with those caught in this cult's grip. So far, I've found this to be most evident in the U.S. and to a lesser extent, internationally. International liberals still have their brains connected to their mouth. From a Christian viewpoint, we believe in a higher power than man. The communist viewpoint allows man to rise to be a god with ALL the negative ramifications. This fundamental flaw in communism has been responsible for its undoing over and over again. Why does it keep rising from the ashes? ...Undermining of our culture and religious Judeo-Christian values.

What does this accusation reduce itself to? The history of all past society has consisted in the development of class antagonisms, antagonisms that assumed different forms at different epochs. But whatever form they may have taken, one fact is common to all past ages, viz., the exploitation of one part of society by the other. No wonder, then, that the social consciousness of past ages, despite all the multiplicity and variety it displays, moves within certain common
forms, or general ideas, which cannot completely vanish except with the total disappearance of class antagonisms.

GEA Perhaps the fact that the U.S. consumes nearly 50% of the drugs might be a leading indicator that if the puppeteers can just drug us down a bit more, they can really eliminate this human flaw, rather than teaching through our various institutions how to manage and control it.

The Communist revolution is the most radical rupture with traditional relations; no wonder that its development involved the most radical rupture with traditional ideas. But let us have done with the bourgeois objections to Communism.

GEA Current approach...yell down your opponents with profanities and call them idiots.

We have seen above, that the first step in the revolution by the working class is to raise the proletariat to the position of ruling class to win the battle of democracy.

The proletariat will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degree, all capital from the bourgeoisie, to centralise all instruments of production in the hands of the State, i.e., of the proletariat organised as the ruling class; and to increase the total productive forces as rapidly as possible. Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property, and on the conditions of bourgeois production; by means of measures,
therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionising the mode of production. These measures will, of course, be different in different countries.

GEA This plays to the left's equal outcomes approach to societal brainwashing. Social justice, inclusiveness, celebrate, etc. are the buzz words used to break down these restraints.

Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable:

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralisation of credit in the banks of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the
soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
8. Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.

Wow! And you mean there are people that can intellectually handle all these centralized decisions and power and responsibility for over 6 billion people? What a bunch of lunatics!

The UN

With all due respect for the United Nations efforts with earthquake and tsunami recovery in Asia, a recent petition I circulated about getting the UN out of the US, etc., etc. was met with a common reply for which I am strongly compelled to respond to in turn.

The essence of the responses were, "We can't eliminate such an organization. We need to have a forum to discuss issues among nations. You complain about the UN, but you give no viable alternative suggestions."

Whether it is in our business, our church, our government, or our world, the human proclivity is to never, ever eliminate organizations, committees, special funds, etc. Business is one category that is faced with the economic profit and loss reality that ultimately cleanses itself of useless, nonproductive, or parasitic entities.

With the current advanced state of telecommunications and the overlapping diplomatic networks that exist, we have to seriously ask ourselves, "What if we closed the doors of the UN tomorrow. What would happen?" My simple response would be that the slime factor would drop by several percentage points. Other than that, the NGO's would still continue NGOing. People would still surf the Internet. CNN would still be selling its view of the world.

Some people suggest that the UN be reorganized or evolved to fix its endemic corruption and ineffectiveness. In the real world, this doesn't work anymore. With invested or imbedded interests, including the building janitorial service union, it will take years, if not decades to effect change. The only solution is termination as no amount of radiation or chemotherapy will cure this cancer...only surgical removal.

During this recent Asia disaster, all the UN could quickly muster was a complaint that the US was not contributing enough, quickly enough. It will be interesting to look back in a couple of years at this shattered landscape. I predict that individuals and individual governments and private initiatives will have healed this wound most quickly, with the UN standing on the sidelines, as it did in various political massacres or ethnic cleansings in the last few years

As an old wag said, "There are people that make things happen, there are people that watch things happen, and there are people that wonder what happened." The UN is a ripe candidate for the last allegory.

Government

How Government Works: Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert.

Congress said, "someone may steal from it at night." So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So they created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?" So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost."

So they laid off the night watchman.

How About This?

Dear Friends,

An earlier e-mail noted the issue sources of information in the military. This appears to be an actual account disguised by a pen-name. Please come to your own conclusions. I forward it because the events pretty much align with what I've heard or read short of the specific readiness comments and also ties in with an e-mail sent a week or so ago about inconsistencies of thinking about U.S. presence in the world. Pity the poor cad that would generate such stories to later rank in the halls of SNOPES http://www.snopes.com.

Guest Column: No Relief in Sight for the Lincoln
By Ed Stanton

It has been three weeks since my ship, the USS Abraham Lincoln, arrived off the Sumatran coast to aid the hundreds of thousands of victims of the Dec. 26 tsunami that ravaged their coastline. I'd like to say that this has been a rewarding experience for us, but it has not: Instead, it has been a frustrating and needlessly dangerous exercise made even more difficult by the Indonesian government and a traveling circus of so-called aid workers who have invaded our spaces.

What really irritated me was a scene I witnessed in the Lincoln's wardroom a few days ago. I went in for breakfast as I usually do, expecting to see the usual crowd of ship's company officers in khakis and air wing aviators in flight suits, drinking coffee and exchanging rumors about when our ongoing humanitarian mission in Sumatra is going to end.

What I saw instead was a mob of civilians sitting around like they owned the place. They wore various colored vests with logos on the back including Save The Children, World Health Organization and the dreaded baby blue vest of the United Nations. Mixed in with this crowd were a bunch of reporters, cameramen and Indonesian military officers in uniform. They all carried cameras, sunglasses and fanny packs like tourists on their way to Disneyland. My warship had been transformed into a floating hotel for a bunch of trifling do-gooders overnight.
As I went through the breakfast line, I overheard one of the U.N. strap-hangers, a longhaired guy with a beard, make a sarcastic comment to one of our food servers. He said something along the lines of "Nice china, really makes me feel special," in reference to the fact that we were eating off of paper plates that day. It was all I could do to keep from jerking him off his feet and choking him, because I knew that the reason we were eating off paper plates was to save dishwashing water so that we would have more water to send ashore and save lives. That plus the fact that he had no business being there in the first place.

My attitude towards these unwanted no-loads grew steadily worse that day as I learned more from one of our junior officers who was assigned to escort a group of them. It turns out that they had come to Indonesia to "assess the damage" from the Dec. 26 tsunami. Well, they could have turned on any TV in the world and seen that the damage was total devastation. When they got to Sumatra with no plan, no logistics support and no five-star hotels to stay in, they threw themselves on the mercy of the U.S. Navy, which, unfortunately, took them in. I guess our senior brass was hoping for some good PR since this was about the time that the U.N. was calling the United States "stingy" with our relief donations.

As a result of having to host these people, our severely over-tasked SH-60 Seahawk helos, which were carrying tons of food and water every day to the most inaccessible places in and around Banda Aceh, are now used in great part to ferry these "relief workers" from place to place every day and bring them back to their guest bedrooms on the Lincoln at night. Despite their avowed dedication to helping the victims, these relief workers will not spend the night
in-country, and have made us their guardians by default. When our wardroom treasurer approached the leader of the relief group and asked him who was paying the mess bill for all the meals they ate, the fellow replied, "We aren't paying, you can try to bill the U.N. if you want to."
In addition to the relief workers, we routinely get tasked with hauling around reporters and various low-level "VIPs," which further wastes valuable helo lift that could be used to carry supplies. We had to dedicate two helos and a C-2 cargo plane for America-hater Dan Rather and his entourage of door holders and briefcase carriers from CBS News. Another camera crew was from MTV. I doubt if we'll get any good PR from them, since the cable channel is banned in Muslim countries. We also had to dedicate a helo and crew to fly around the vice mayor of Phoenix, Ariz., one day. Everyone wants in on the action. As for the Indonesian officers, while their job is apparently to encourage our leaving as soon as possible, all they seem to do in the meantime is smoke cigarettes. They want our money and our help but they don't want their population to see that Americans are doing far more for them in two weeks than their own government has ever done or will ever do for them. To add a kick in the face to the USA and the Lincoln, the Indonesian government announced it would not allow us to use their airspace for routine training and flight proficiency operations while we are saving the lives of their people,
some of whom are wearing Osama bin Ladin T-shirts as they grab at our food and water. The ship has to steam out into international waters to launch and recover jets, which makes our helos have to fly longer distances and burn more fuel.

What is even worse than trying to help people who totally reject everything we stand for is that our combat readiness has suffered for it. An aircraft carrier is an instrument of national policy and the big stick she carries is her air wing. An air wing has a set of very demanding skills and they are highly perishable. We train hard every day at sea to conduct actual air strikes, air defense, maritime surveillance, close air support and many other missions - not to mention taking off and landing on a ship at sea.

Our safety regulations state that if a pilot does not get a night carrier landing every seven days, he has to be re-qualified to land on the ship. Today we have pilots who have now been over 25 days without a trap due to being unable to use Indonesian airspace to train. Normally it is when we are at sea that our readiness is at its very peak. Thanks to the Indonesian government, we have to waive our own safety rules just to get our pilots off the deck.

In other words, the longer we stay here helping these people, the more dangerous it gets for us to operate. We have already lost one helicopter, which crashed in Banda Aceh while taking sailors ashore to unload supplies from the C-130s. There were no relief workers on that one.
I'm all for helping the less fortunate, but it is time to give this mission to somebody other than the U.S. Navy. Our ship was supposed to be home on Feb. 3 and now we have no idea how long we will be here. American taxpayers are spending millions per day to keep this ship at sea and getting no training value out of it. As a result, we will come home in a lower state of readiness than when we left due to the lack of flying while supporting the tsunami relief effort.

I hope we get some good PR in the Muslim world out of it. After all, this is Americans saving the lives of Muslims. I have my doubts. Ed Stanton is the pen name of a career U.S. Navy officer currently serving with the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group.
Winning The Future

Dear Friends,

I just finished Newt Gingrich's new book, "Winning the Future". I was a bit reluctant to obtain it, at first, due to his version of hanky-panky about the same time Clinton was having his. Nonetheless, I am fascinated with persons that have a strong grasp of history and are able to keep people's interest as historians relaying the whys and wherefores of things past.

I've reproduced his "21st Century Contract with America" below. This was printed near the front of the book. If interested, you can find out more at:

Winning the Future

A 21st Century Contract with America
Tuesday, February 8, 2005
by Newt Gingrich

We are committed to a safe, healthy, prosperous, and free America. We believe our children and grandchildren deserve the opportunities our parents and grandparents gave us.

In a rapidly changing world with new threats and new competitors, we must implement policies that will ensure America’s leadership, safety, and prosperity. And we must reinvigorate the core values that have made America an exceptional civilization.

We do not believe the traditional instruments of government will reform themselves fast enough and thoroughly enough for the twenty-first century.

The entrenched lobbyists and entrenched bureaucracies will do all they can to minimize the changes no matter how vital those changes are to America’s future. Self interest will dominate national interest if the normal political system operates with business as usual. The pressure of daily events will keep both the news media and most politicians focused on the immediate and the trivial rather than the long-term and the profoundly important.

Only a grassroots citizens’ movement can insist on the level of change that is needed for our children and grandchildren to have a successful future.

Such a citizens’ movement would have to be focused on goals rather than on interest groups. The goals define the America we want our children and grandchildren to have.

To achieve this future we will:

I

Defend America and our allies from those who would destroy us. To achieve security,we will develop the intelligence, diplomatic, information, defense, and homeland security systems and resources for success.

II

Transform the Social Security system into personal savings accounts that will enable every worker to have higher retirement incomes from their own work and avoid the need for financial support from their children.

III

Recenter America on the Creator from Whom all our liberties come. We will insist on a judiciary that understands the centrality of God in American history and reasserts the legitimacy of recognizing the Creator in public life.

IV

Establish patriotic education for our children and patriotic immigration for new Americans. To achieve this,we will renew our commitment to education about American citizenship based on American history and an understanding of the Founding Fathers and the core values of American civilization. We will insist that both our children and immigrants learn the key values and key facts of American history as the foundation of their growth as citizens.

V

Meet the triple economic challenges of an explosion in scientific and technological knowledge, an increasingly competitive world market, and the rise of China and India by implementing:

A new system of civil justice to reduce the burden of lawsuits and to incentivize young people to go into professions other than the law.

A dramatically simplified tax code that favors savings, entrepreneurship, investment, and constant modernization of equipment and technology.

Math and science learning equal to any in the world and educating enough young Americans to both discover the science of the future and to compete successfully in national security and the economy with other well-educated societies.

Investing in the scientific revolutions that are going to transform our world—particularly in energy, space, and the environment.

Transforming health care into a 21st Century Intelligent Health System that improves our health while lowering costs dramatically. In the process, American health care will become our highest value export and foreign exchange earning sector.

VI

Work to include every American in a system of patriotic stewardship so every person has a real opportunity to pursue happiness as their Creator endowed. Prepare for the aging of the baby boomers and their children so we can have active healthy aging with the best quality of life, the longest period of independent living, and the greatest prosperity. We will:

Develop a system in which those who wish to stay economically active are encouraged and incentivized to do so because active people live longer and healthier, have a greater opportunity to pursue happiness, and are less of a burden on their fellow citizens;

Develop a system of independent living and assisted living that increases the years in which people can be on their own and in most cases enables people to live their entire lives with freedom and dignity;

Develop a new model of quality long-term care in which both the care and the quality of life are compatible with a twenty-first century American expectation of progress and innovation.

Use the new technologies and new scientific knowledge to turn disabilities into capabilities and change government regulations and programs to help every American achieve the fullest possible ability to pursue happiness.

VII

Change the mindset of big government in Washington by replacing bureaucratic public administration with Entrepreneurial Public Management so government can operate with the speed, effectiveness, and efficiency of the information age.

VIII

Balance the federal budget and insist on a lean government, low tax, low interest rate economy to maximize growth in a competitive world.

IX

Insist on congressional reform to make the legislative branch responsive to the needs of the 21st century.

X

Ensure an election process that is honest, accountable, accurate, and free from the threat of illegal votes or subsequent litigation.

If we insist on these goals and insist on electing leaders at all levels dedicated to these goals, we will be able to leave our children and grandchildren an America of safety, health, prosperity, and freedom that would make our parents and grandparents proud. We too will have done our duty to our country and our achievements as citizens will be worthy of the America we inherited.

Clarity - Illegal Aliens

For once, I believe there is a reasonably bipartisan issue on the table... illegal aliens...however, both major political parties have their heads in the sand on the issue, and, of course, the Libertarians believe in open borders anyway.

The deafening mantra from many business leaders and the uninformed is, "They take jobs that no one else wants, anyway." This is an extremely naive way of looking at the matter for the following reasons:

1. THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY AND IT IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL THOSE IMMIGRANTS THAT FOLLOWED THE LEGAL PATH. This bears repeating... THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY!!! THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW!!!

2. Who knows what low level of humanity is coming in this porous border flood, including persons with mass murder on their minds.

For many, many years there was an orderly flow of migrant farm workers. Little-by-little, this started to move to ditch digging and other hard labor. Now, it has permeated nearly every type of non-desk service job nationwide, with the crowd of itinerate laborers in front of Home Depot everyday.

Why is this happening? They do a very good job very inexpensively.

What is the effect?

Coupled with the tidal wave of outsourcing white collar jobs overseas, this is having a tremendous downward pull on overall wages and the resulting drop in our standard of living. Heaven knows we are still suffering a hangover from the roaring '90's and recent political events, but the lack of clarity in real trends and the up and down of the stock market is distressing to say the least. What about all those entry level jobs we used to have for our children? Kid's now jump from college to the workplace with little or no work experience of any kind.

I am not against such outsourcing moves, nor am I against business' attempt to keep wage growth under control.. I have long thought that the C++ programmers working in coding sweat shops, better known as the hi-tech industry, should have made a transition long ago. The problem lies with the relative size of the flow and industry's under-whelming inability to come up with the next "killer app" to spur the next flood of technological innovation, productivity and upward mobility. Moreover, loving this country as I do, I cannot tolerate it slipping backwards toward some mediocre "2nd world" standard of living...for our shrinking middle class.

What to do?

1. Get control of our northern and southern borders...especially the southern border immediately.

2. DO NOT allow our government to give these law breakers drivers licenses. The prime reasons are that this is the key identification to gain access to many public services OF RESIDENT ALIENS AND CITIZENS AND it allows them to get on airplanes. The airplane issue should be well understood, however I've attached a link on my web site to a report about...

The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Californians

This does not even touch the horrible situation in our sister states of Arizona and New Mexico.

3. Make strict penalties on ANY business hiring illegal aliens. Make the penalties high enough that it will not be worth the risk to hire these aliens.

4. Etc. etc. (I have to say this as this is not simple issue and the list is long)
To many, Vincente Fox, the ACLU, La Raza, etc. this may seem like cruel and unusual punishment, but too, too many Hospital ER's are closing due to bankruptcy or non-recoverable expenses. What other statistics are being buried by local weak bureaucrats. Furthermore, I am sorry to say, President Bush appears to be quite deaf to this matter with his own amnesty plan pushing forward. Certainly the opposition isn't a fountain of ideas and proposals either.
As with any human situation, implementation cannot be overnight, except the border control issue. I am mainly referring to the proper way to deal with 10-12 million individuals that are integrated into our economy. All actions related to those individuals already here must be phased in over a 1-2 year period giving all parties time to adjust their affairs and then strict "0" tolerance implementation thereafter.

Somebody has to bite the bullet and the sooner the better.
